Samsung occupies more than half of the smartphone display market

Strategy Analytics estimated the size of the global smartphone display market in the first quarter of this year. The undisputed industry leader is the South Korean giant Samsung.

In the period from January to March inclusive, it is estimated that globally, panels for mobile devices were sold in the amount of approximately $ 9.0 billion. This is 3% more compared to the result for the first quarter of 2019, when the industry volume in monetary terms estimated at approximately $ 8.7 billion.

As noted above, the largest supplier is Samsung. According to the results of the first quarter of this year, this company occupied 51.8% of the industry in monetary terms.

In second place is the Chinese BOE Technology with a result of 14.3%. Closes the three Tianma Microelectronics, whose share was approximately 8.2%.

Thus, the three leading suppliers control about three quarters of the global smartphone display market. The total share of all other manufacturers was 25.7%.
