Tizen Operating System History
Tizen has been around for a long time. It was created as a result of the evolution of the operating system called Bada, which Samsung used in its first touchscreen phones, long before the introduction of Android.
Models from the popular Samsung Wave series worked on it. Initially, Tizen was not as widespread as its predecessor, but this did not stop the company from releasing more and more devices running on this system.
Samsung has released five models of phones from the Z series: Z, Z1, Z2, Z3 and Z4. All of them were equipped with Tizen and were considered a worthy alternative to Android. At that time, it was believed that this system would become a leading one for consumers when its more popular competitor ceased to exist on the market. But the problem was the lack of officially supported Tizen apps.
In the first models of Samsung sports watches, this system was installed. Although it is safe to say that the appearance of these devices was not as successful as one might expect. But their full compatibility with Samsung phones over time has become the main reason that Tizen began to attract more users.
What is a Tizen system?
Tizen is the OS on which the Samsung brand has built its reputation in the field of smart watches, but over time, this technology began to penetrate other devices. Today Tizen is much more popular than a few years ago, and this applies not only to watches.
Tizen is a non-standard OS that is multidimensional. This means that it offers different versions of itself, depending on the device on which it is installed. It is also open source software, so programmers can develop their projects on it.
Tizen Operating System is built on Linux, like many other operating systems today. It is so flexible that it can be used on smartphones and smart watches to monitor body parameters, car systems and televisions, as well as on other devices with a screen (even in refrigerators).
Devices with Tizen Operating System
In recent software versions, Samsung has changed the name of the user interface, calling it the “Single User Interface” or One UI, but it is still based on Tizen software. Therefore, it is clear why Samsung is engaged in this operating system, at least when it comes to devices for monitoring activity.
Among Samsung sports watches developed on the basis of Tizen, the main ones can be distinguished:
- Samsung Galaxy Watch - Modern smart watches and analog watches in one case,
- Samsung Galaxy Watch Active is a sports version of the above watches, made in a sports style.
Samsung is currently one of the largest television retailers. The company offers 4K HDR devices with stylish designs and amazing smart features. Most likely, a large number of users first encountered the Tizen system on their TVs, without even realizing it. The user interface itself is called Eden 2.0.
It provides easy access to popular streaming services such as Netflix, YouTube and Google Play. The Tizen-based Eden interface can be found on most (if not all) of the new Samsung QLED TVs.
